P.S.

Forgot to mention we were at US Skates in Woodbridge. It was a beautiful rink. Nice and open, clean bathrooms, reasonably priced concession stand and vending machines.

We should plan to go on one of the Scout nights. Take a look at the blog for the schedule. Let me know what you think. If you think that it's a great idea, let's get the troops together and take a ride around the rink.

Signing off for now.....owest

OMG! Let me tell you about the fun we had...

I AM SO GLAD IT'S FRIDAY!

This has been a crazy week. Somebody please stop the madness. Ok, now that I've gotten that off my chest. Let me tell you about all the fun I had last night.

The Parent's Association of St. Joseph the Carpenter school held its annual skating party yesterday. WOW!!! It's been many a day since I've attended a skating party. Since some of the troop members are students at St. Joseph's, they are very excited to be attending skate night. It's more than just getting out of the house for these girls; it also means NO HOMEWORK. We hit the rink and we're ready to roll. Or so I thought...lol

Some of the scouts grabbed their skates, tied their laces and then took off like the wind. Some others weren't so quick. Balance and motion could be quite scary when people are just whizzing past you at a variety of speeds. After a little adjustment, the non-adventurous type rode the wall to prevent falling, but falling down has never been so funny. These young ladies fell down quite a bit, but they giggled all the way back up. They wanted to become just as agile as the other skaters, so giving up was never an option.

Before the event, I was totally convinced that I would just attend as the leader of Troop 203 and supervise. So, off I go to the skating party prepared to laugh and take photos with my scouts, but I saw how much fun they were having and I decided to take a chance on the waxed floor. Took off my sneakers, laced up my wheels and there I stood in place. Quick, grab the camera somebody! I literally did not move a muscle. Where did the enthusiasm go? My gracious, am I really doing it? Heavens, I'm going to break bones if I hit that floor....lol Once the brain got the message, it said, "Hold on missy, what are you doing?”. To make a long story short, I finally moved. I fell so many times, but had such a good time that it was worth getting embarrassed.

Growing up, many of us heard that No Pain was No Gain. Self-motivation, persistence and true "grit" helped the tortoise win the race. You may sweat a lot harder and at times feel somewhat discouraged, but the rewards in the end are invaluable. Being a girl scout is no different. Brownie Troop 203 is committed to helping our fellow sisters, the community and our families. To be successful, all of us must be willing to work hard and give it our best!

Our actions, opinions, and comments help to shape young lives. So as you prepare for the weekend, think of the joy you felt when you put on your first pair of skates, rode a bike for the first time or jumped Double Dutch with your friends. Incorporate some joy into your life everyday!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Got Cookies to go with that milk?

Fun Fact: Did you know the first Girl Scout Cookie program began as early as 1917?

Girl Scout Cookies® are an icon of American culture. They’re also the backbone of the Girl Scout Cookie® Program, the leading entrepreneurial program for girls.
Supporting documents show the first recorded cookie sale took place with the Mistletoe Troop in Oklahoma. This troop baked their cookies and sold them in the high school cafeteria.

Next Girl Scout Cookie sale:

Our Girl Scout Cookie® Sale will kickoff January 1, 2009. Look for more information in the upcoming months. As always, your support and participation is greatly appreciated.
Proceeds from your purchases will support Girl Scouts in your community.

Bring your skates and let's roll!

It's Girl Scout Season!

HELLO! Welcome to BT203's Blog.....

For many years, I have wanted to become a part of the Girl Scout community. As a busy executive assistant and full-time college student, I was juggling a very demanding schedule throughout the week. Now that have completed my undergraduate degree program at Kean University (GO COUGARS!!!), I am ready to be a scout...lol

In speaking with a co-worker, I hear of an opportunity to guide a beautiful group of young ladies within my immediate neighborhood. The troop's leader is making some personal moves and will be unable to lead for the current year. I register with the GSUSA, make a promise (holding up my right hand) to serve and I get the green light.

In the past, I have participated in community based projects directly through my employers, church and friends. So, becoming a leader for Troop 203 is how I can once again collaborate with other leaders, meet new friends, explore diverse cultures and have fun at the same time.

This blog was created so that I can introduce Brownie Troop 203 to the world. During our season, my goal is to keep you abreast of changes that occur within our community, seek your feedback on how we can assist on a global level and inspire to you become a member of the Girl Scout family.

Check back frequently and let us know how we are doing.

Ready, set, let's GO!
